POULTRYMEN MEET
ANNUAL JATHERINC PRESIDENT REPORTS ON SUCCESSFUL YEAR. QUESTION OF CONTROL. Mr A. G. Robinson presided at the annual meeting of the Poultry, Pigeon, Canary, and Cage Birds’ Championship Association, of Affiliated Societies. The following societies were represented: —Hastings; Mr A: T. Lapst; Wellington, Mr A. Thomas and T. Doig; Old Englisii Game Club, E. D. Barry; Marlborough, T. Bradley and M. G. Grenside; Nelson, Alf. Robinson. W. x>. McKenzie, and AV. Bailey: Wellington Cat Club, E. C. Copp; Wellington Canary Club, G. Feam. , . The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted as read. Delegates congratulated the Nelson members of ■ the board of management on the rely satisfactory result of this year’s working, which snowed a credit of £43 19s 9d. MANAGEMENT DISCUSSED. There was considerable discussion on the question of affiliated societies taking over control of the management, and a resolution was proposed by Mr Thomas and seconded by MP Leipst: “That the present board of management continue in control with headquarters at Nelson.” Thi ß was supported by Messrs Bradley, McKenzie and Grenside, and carried unanimously. . A number of remits from societies were brought forward, including one from the Marlborough Association, urging the Championship Association to protest against the embargo placed on the importation of fowl wheat. This was strongly supported. SHOW DATES. The following provisional show dates were agreed upon:—Hastings, June 27th and 28th; Masterton, July 3rd, 4th and sth; Wellington, July 10th, 11th and 12th; Blenheim and Woodville, July 17th and 18th; Nelson, July 24th, 25th and 26th. A hearty vote of thanks to the president and the secretary (Mr E. Ik Barry) concluded the meeting. PRESIDENT’S REPORT A SUCCESSFUL YEAR. In reporting on the work of the Championship Association for the past twelve month.:, the president remarked that it oould he said that the year had been a most successful one. Tile association had been strengthened by the affiliation of Masterton and Napier Poultry Societies, though it was to be regretted that the latter society, at the last moment, found itself unable, to bold a show. FINANCE. The financial result of the year’s working was one that will give pleasure to delegates. There was a profit of £4B 19s 9d, despite the fact that there were several items in the expenditure which were non-recurring, and that the charge to the societies in connection with the art union was reduced by 25*per cent, on previous years. . The combined schedule issued in connection with last year’s shows was kept free from advertisements, nevertheless the management committee found it was possible to reduce the charges arranged at the last conference, and still produce a satisfactory schedule. /"FURTHER CHAMPIONSHIPS. With regard to further championships it was proposed to include one for utility minorcas, and to add classes in the schedule for the Sussex breed. “On behalf of the management committee I desire to express appreciation of the loyalty of societies during the year. This has no doubt contributed very largely to the successful result,” was his concluding remark.
