MR SNOWDEN’S PROPOSALS TOTAL REDUCTION IN EXPENDITURE, £45,000,000. LOWER FOOD DUTIESBy Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Sydney “Sun” Cable.) LONDON, March 5. The “Daily Mail” slates that Mr Philip Snowden, Chancellor of the Exchequer, hopes to reduce the duty on tea by a penny a pound, and correspondingly to reduce the sugar tax, and reduce the entertainment tax.
The Navy Estimates are reduced £7,000,000, and the Aar Force increased £2,000,000. The total reduction in the estimates is £45,000,000.
