COUNTY COUNCIL’S ACTION. PATRIOTIC REASONS. Per Press Association. ASHBURTON, March 6, In order that the profits on it* banking business shall remain in New Zealand, the Ashburton County Council, for patriotic reasons, resolved to transfer ate patronage from the Union Bank of Australia to the Bank of New Zealand. The decision follows a period of consideration, during which emphasis was laid on the benefits received from the State in various grants and cheap loans and the necessity for reciprocation. The council is writing to the Union Bank manager emphasising the fact that personal relations have always been most cordial.
