DAIRY PRODUCE
GRADED FOR EXPORT. The figure of the dairy division of the Department of Agriculture show that the salted buttor graded for February, 1924, was 6169 tons, and the unsnlted 385 tons, a totalo f 6554 tods, ciiupared with 7030 tons salted and 517 tons unsalted, a total of 7547 tons for February of last year; a decrease of 13.1 per cent. For the seven months ended’ February, 1924, the respective* quantities woros 42,635 tons and 3005 tons, a total of 45,640 tons, compared with 49.123 tons and 3302 tons, a total of 52,425 tons, a decrease of 12.9 per cent. The cheese graded for February, 1924, comprised: White, 5095 tons; coloured, 3342 tons; a total of 8437 tons, compared with 5523 tons white and 2963 tons* coloured ; a total of 8486 tons, a decrease of 0.5 per cent. The quantities for the yeven months ending February, 1924, were: White 32,661 tons, coloured 20,283 tons, a total of 52,994 tons, compared with 26,827 tons white and 14,909 tons ooloured; a total of 41,736 tons, an increase of 26.8 per cent. Conveiting these fig ires into butterfat equivalent there is a decrease of 2.2 per cent, in butter-fat production for the seven months, ao compared with the corresponding period of 1922-23. Stocks held in the various grading ports at February' 29th, 1924, were: Butter 3191 tons, cheese 5943 tons. * HEMP EXPORTS FIGURES FOR FEBRUARY. Following are details of the hemp, etc., graded for export during February:— Hemp.—The total number of bales graded was 7277, as compared with 6117 for the corresponding- month last year, en increase of 1160 bales. For the 12 months ended February 29th, 1924, the number of bales graded was 62,759, compared with 66,234 for the previous 12 months, a decrease of 3475 bales. Tow.—During the month 1581 bales were graded, as compared with 1415 for the same month last year, an increase of 166 bales. For the 12 months ended February 29th, 1924, 15,466 bales were graded, against 16,872 bales for the previous 12 months, a decrease of 1406 bales. Stripper tow. —During the month 95 bales were graded, as against none in 1923. Striper slips.—2s bales were graded, as against 7 in February, 1923, an increase of 18 bales. For the 12 months ended February 29th, 1924, 96 hales were graded, as against 79 bales for the previous 12 months, an increase of 17 bales
