PROGRESS REPORTED. AN ALL-ROUND INCREASE. Figures presented to the Wellington Harbour Board b.v the secretary show all round increases in trade during December, compared with December twelve months previously. In the list of figures given below those of December, 1922, are in parentheses The total increaso is J 225.268, and tho details a ro: — Shipping. Total net registered tonnage of trading vessels arriving, 289,030 tons (202,476); total not registered tonnage of oversea vessels departing, 54,966 (36,151). General Cargo Imports. From British and foreign ports, 24,006 tons (18,257); from coastal and intercolonial ports, 18,762 tons (14,160); transhipments, 13,280 tons (11,354). General Cargo Exports. To British and foreign ports, 4746 tons (4359); to coastal and intercolonial ports, 13.181 tons (10,658). Timber. Imports, super feet, 2.568,769 (940,788); exports,' super feet, 90,924 (79,327). Coal. Imports over wharves paying wharfage. 14,755 tons (12,776); transhipped overside, 12,610 tons (14,523); Government cool landed, exempt from wharfage, 7993 tons (30). Wool ind Hemp Shipments. Transhipped. 4766 bales (5211); shipped from shore and rail, 23,517 bales (17,357). Butter, Cheese and Meat Shipments. Butter cx store and rail and transhipped, 2185 tons (2527); cheese cx store and rail and transhipped, 7179 tons (3899); frozen meat ex store and lail and transhipped, 249 tons (675); grand total for month (all cargo brought to tonnage basis), 122,085 toms (96,817).
