MAGISTRATE'S COURT
YESTERDAY’S SITTING. POLICE AND CIVIL CASES. Yesterday’s sitting of the Magistrate’s Court was presided over by Mr E. Page, S.M., when police and civil cases were dealt with. A first offender for insobriety was fined ss, in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. ABSENT FROM SHIP. A young seaman named George Arthur Foyne pleaded guiltv to a charge of unlawfully absenting himself from the s.s. Kent without leave. The chief engineer of the vessel said that the ship had now its full complement and the accused was not needed. A sentence of seven days’ imprisonment was imposed. CIVIL CASES.
