SAVED FROM DROWNING
MOTHER AND CHILD RESCUED. Per Press Association. FBILDING, January 23. Gallant rescues were effected yesterday in the Rangiiikei river at Kaka riki. Mrs Managh and her children were at the river, and one child who was bathing got into difficulties Th* mother rushed to the rescue, and was washed down by the current. Miss Florence Ward, of Marten, plunged in and saved the child; and Ron Eade, of Feilding, taking his coat off dived in off the 30-foot bank, and, being a. strong swimmer, brought tiro mother ashore. He applied his life-saving knowledge, and brought her round in 15 minutes. Bade is a mem her of a swimming family, and nis brother is champion of the local club.
