NEW QUARTER-MILE TIME GWITHA SHAND’S FINE FEAT Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, January 22. At the Waitemata Swimming Club’* gala, Miss Gwitha Sliand- broke the New Zealand 440 yards record held by MSss Pauline Hoeft, reducing the time from 6m in 25 3-ssec io Gmin Seec. She was paced hy J. Enwright. E. V. Cunnold won the half mile provincial championship in 12min 26 4-ssec. D Pelham was second, and E. Bradley third. The race was won by five yards.
