SHARK AT LYALL BAY

NO NEED FOR ALARM. SICK FISH COMES TO DIE. There was not overmuch cause for the scare which was created amongst bathers at Lyall Bay, yesterday morning, when it was reported that a largo shark had' been caught off the beach. It is true that a shark was caught, its length being 5 feet, but it was a veTy sick one, and nearly dead when pulled out of the water. Two ladies were bathing, and saw the body just moving in shallow water. They gave the alarm, and two club boys immediately went along. Seeing the shark was in extremis, they seized 1 it by the tail and dragged it up on to. the beach where it soon died, and the carcase was disposed of by the beach custodian, Mr R. Binns. It was probably an isolated) member of its kind, and being indisposed and weak, was washed in by the strong current and surf. There is very little need to be alarmed about sharks frequenting Lyall Bay, for they are seldom seen in this vicinity.
