MINISTERIAL The Hon. Sir Frederick Chapman H.« Wellington for Christchurch last night, accompanied by his secretary, ilr Eria Millton. The Hon. Sir Maui Pomare, Minister for Public Health, spent the week-end at his seaside residence at Karehana Bay, Plimmerton. The Hon. G. J. Anderson, who is visiting Gisborne chiefly in relation with harbour matters, was accorded a civic reception, says a Press Association message. He attei wards conferred with the Harbour Board. The Hon. G J. Anderson, Minister for Labour and Marine, expects to reach Opotiki, via Gisborne, to-day, and will proceed to Te Puke on Wednesday. The Minister will visit Tauranga on Thursday, and leave for Auckland on the following day. The Acting-Prime Minister tSir Francii Bell) will leave Wellington to-morrow for Auckland, accompanied by the Hon. C. J. Parr (Minister, for Justice and Education), the Hon. R. F. Bollard (Minister for Internal Affairs), and Sir Maui Pomare (Minister for Health) in order to welcome the Prime Minister (the Bight Hon. W. F. Massey), who ia due to arrive at the northern port by the Makura on Thursday. The Hon. J. G. Coutes. at present visiting the North Auckland district, will probably join Ihe other Ministers at Auckland: and it is anticipated that they will all journey down together in the Main Trunk express, reaching Wellington at midday on Saturday next.' Makgill, who arrived in Auckland from England at Christmas time, reached Wellington yesterday. The Ber. H. W. Monaghan, formerly vicar of Palliate a, has taken up his duties as vicar of Haw-era. Mr Stewart Carey, of Petone, who has been on a visit to Great Britain and France, will arrive in Wellington by the Marama to-day. , Mr W. A. Bnrbery has been appointed the representative of the British Bed Cross Society to administer first-aid at all sports gatherings in Wellington. The Bishop of Wellington (Bight Bev. Dr. Sprott) will attend a retreat of clergy at Lower Hutt between January 28th and February Ist. Dr. T. H. A. Valintine, Director-Gen-aral of Health, who has been at Taranaki for some days, has returned to Wellington. Colonel H. Clegg, D. 5.0., of London, arrived by the Port Sydney. _ He is on his way to Melbourne, and will spend a short time in New Zealand. The Rev. V. H. Kitcat, vicar of Marton, who has been seriously ill, suffering the effects of a nervous breakdown, is making good progress towards recovery. Mr W. H. Bennett, who with his family has been spending the recess at his residence at Plimmerton, returns to town this mid-week. . Dr. F. P. Chisholm, Medical Superintendent of the Queen Mary Hospital. Hanmer Springs, is at present in Wellington, and will ieaie for Botorua today. Dr. W. H. HargreaTes, of Christchurch, returned by the Port Sydney, after a holiday trip to England. While on board Dr Hargreaves occupied the poet of ship’s surgeon. Mr J. F. Montague, who was recently appointed Adjudicator of elocution at Palmerston North next May. has also been appointed judge at Napier and at Greymouth. Mr Cyril Towsey and Miss Daphne Knight, both of Auckland, have been appointed judges of music and dancing rnspectivelv at Palmerston North, Miss Knight will also judge at Hamilton and Gisborne this year.
