DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIPS. GAMES AT PALMERSTON NORTH. (By Telegraph—Special to “Times.”), PALMERSTON N., January 21. The New Zealand croquet tournament which is being played here is proceeding steadily. The finals in the championship doubles will be played between the Hawke’s Bay players, Stratton and Mrs Watkins, and the Christchurch players, - Ross and: Mrs Maddren. The severe defeat of McCullough and Mrs Richardson by their club mates A. ißoss and Mrs Maddren (all of Christchurch) came as a surprise to everyone, the score being 26—1. On Saturday the losers were successful in Winning the handicap doubles from Oaughley and Mrs Maddren, and it was quite, expected that there, would be a strenuous game hi the champion chip doubles, but McCullough failed to make the first hoop and Mrs Richardson made only one. The game lasted about 45 minutes. OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP. Best Of Three Games. A. Russ beat (Hague, winning two games in the first rubber; J.
