TENNIS

TOURNAMENT AT EASTBOURNE. The Bast Harbour tennis tournament, which is being conducted under the auspices of the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association by the Muritai Tennis Club, in oonj unction with the Eastbourne Gala, promises to attain a large measure of success. The tournament opens on Boxing Bay on .the Municipal courts at Eastbourne, and in addition to the East Harbour championships, handicap events are being contested, combined doubles, and men’s singles. A special feature of the tournament will be a junior championship for boys under 18 years of ago. The tournament, which is being held when some of the leading and more experienced players will be away at the New Zealand championship, at Christchurch, provides promising young players an opportunity for match practice during the holiday season. The programme of events and entry forms may he obtained from club secretaries, or Mr A. J. McLennan, secretary of the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association, Lambton quay. Entries for the tournament close to-night at 8 o’clock Late entries may be left at the Eastbourne Ferry Office this (Saturday) evening.
