NAPIER EXPLOSION

INQUEST ON VICTIMS. Per Press Association. NAPIER, December 20. The inquest on Arthur Sturm and Archibald Siporle, who were fatally injured in tho explosion at Port Ahuiin on November Ist, was held before Mr R. W. Dyer, S.M., to-day. While' loading cylinders containing acetylene fas one exploded, fatally burning turm and Sporle and severely injuring a number of others. The inquiry opened this morning and concluded at 11 o’clock to-night. The evidence of experts went to show that cylinders containing acetylene gas were generally considered to ■be quite safe, and that in the case of the one which exploded, there was a defect in the welding. A formal verdiot was returned.
