FRUIT EXPORT
BRIGHTER PROSPECTS MR T. W. ATTWOOD TO VISIT ENGLAND AGAIN. REDUCTION IN FREIGHTS. A few days ago a cable was received announcing a reduction in freights from Australia, but so far nothing has been heard in New Zealand as to whether the reduction will be applicable to the Dominion. It is hoped that something will be done in this connection on behalf of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers’ Federation and the fruitgrowers generally, so that the fruit trade will benefit by a reduction. FOR ENGLAND AND AMERICA. Mr H. E. Napier, secretary of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers’ Federation, stated that the prospects for the forthcoming season are very good, as there are 50,000 cases, booked for South America, and it is expected that quite 175,000 cases will be forwarded to England. PRESIDENT GOING HOME. Mr A. T. Attwood, president of the federation, is leaving for England again shortly to watch the fruit arrivals from New Zealand, and will also supervise the’ fruit and fruit products exhibits at the British Empire Exhibition. Mr Attwood was in England last season for the fruit arrivals, and brought back a good deal of valuable information for ihe shippers, and it was considered advisable that he should pay another visit to the Old Country. He is expected to leave by the Port Kembla on January 15th.
