The New Zealand Shipping Company advise that the Trefusis wirelessed yesterday that 6he would arrive in,Auckland at 10 o’clock last night from Montreal. She has cargo for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. TAHITI SAILS: THIS AFTERNOON. Tho Union Company advise that the Tahiti, which arrived on Wednesday from San Francisco, will leave Wellington to-day, at 3 p.m., and not at 11 a.m., as previously advertised, for Sydney. RIMUTAKA LOADING. The New Zealand Shipping Company advise that the Rimutaka, from Wanganui. arrived in Wellington yesterday and berthed at the Glasgow wharf to con-' tinue loading for London. She clears here on Saturday for Lyttelton to complete, and sails from there on Wednesday .next, via Panama. PORT VICTOR IN PORT. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line advise that the Port Victor, which arrived yesterday morning from Auckland to continue discharge of Liverpool cargo, will clear this port on Saturday for Lyttelton. PORT KEMBLA. FOR WANGANUI. The C. and D. Line have advice that the Port Kembla is due at W anganui on Saturday from Newcastle to commence loading for London. From there she proceeds to New Plymouth, Lyttelton, Gisborne, and Wellington, sailing finally on January 14EE. PORT DENISON TO COMPLETE. The C. and D. Line advise that the Port Denison, will leave Auckland on Saturday for Wellington to complete loading for London. She is due op Monday, and will sail finally on the morning of December 23rd, via Monte Video. PORT HACKING DISCHARGING. The C. and D. Line advise that tho Port Hacking leaves to-day for Dunedin to complete discharge of New York cargo. LATE CAPTAIN HLRICK. After an uneventful voyage from London the Aberdeen liner Diogenes reached Melbourne on November 20th with passengers and cargo. On the last HomeWard voyage the commander (Captain Elrick) died, and was buried at sea. Captain T. Roberts has succeeded to the command. When the Diogenes on this voyage was passing the place of the late Captain HLrick’s burial two wreaths—one from the widow and one from the officers of the steamer—were cast overboard. FAMOUS LINER SCRAPPED. The scrapping is announced of the former crack Hamburg-Americau liner Fuerst Bismarck, which, after a chequered career under various flags; ended her days as the Italian steamer San Giusto. She was biult at the Vulcan yard in Stettin in 1890, and measured 8606 gross tons. The vessel was over 502 ft long, with Insurious passenger accommodation, and was equipped with triple-expansion engines of 16,600-h.p. On 'her trial trip siio made 20.85 knots. The Fuerst Bismarck was tho first steamer to cut down the running time between Cherbourg and New York to less than six and a half days. Her best record was 6d lOh After plying on this route for some ten years she was sold to the Russian Government, which renamed her Don, and later Moskva.''At the close of the Russo-Japanese War she was Bold to the Austrian navy and became the torpedo depot ship Gaa. When the World War ended ehe was acquired by the Italian Government and chartered. to the Goerulich Line for the Atlantio emigrant service. CANTERBURY STEAMERS. Messrs Turnbull and Co. advise as Under:— The Breeze is due to-day from the 60uth, and sails this afternoon for Wanganui. The Kohi sails to-day for Picton, Nelson, and Havelock, and is due back on Tuesday to load for the Sounds. The Storm is due on Tuesday from Wanganui, and sails the same day for Lyttetlon, Timaru, and Dunedin. LIVERPOOL PORT CHARGES. The manager of the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board, Liverpool, has advised the Department of Industries and Commerce that during their pleasure vessels which use the Dingle Oil Jetty for the sole purpose of taking on board oil or 6pirit fop. their own consumption on the immediate voyage on which they leave the port, will, bo charged, only 75 per cent, of the dock tonnage rates for the time being, chargeable in respect of vessels bunkering only in dock, but this arrangement shall not apply to rny vessel which either before or after bunkering enters any of the board’s docks, QUICK WORK AT LIVERPOOL. It is reported from Liverpool that tho White Star R.M.S. Baltic, which arrived from New York on Monday morning, October 22nd, sailed again for New York on Thursday afternoon, and that during the Short period she was in the port she disembarked American passengers at the Liverpool landing stage, entered dock, discharged and loaded nearly 11,600 tons «f general cargo and bunkers in 54 working hours, afterwards undocking and embarking a full complement of passengers before sailing on her return journey. A portion of the cargo of the Baltic consisted of fruit, and constituted one of the largest shipments by a single vessel from tho States, tut these consignments did not constitute a record in comparison with the 68.879 packages of apples, pears, etc., brought to Liverpool by the White Star liner Celtic last week. This affords tout another eloquent proof of the rapid and efficient manner in which this port deals with overseas vessels and their cargoes.
