MAGISTRATE’S COURT
SATURDAY’S SITTING. Mr C. R. Orr-Walker presided over Saturday’s sitting of the Magistrate’s Court, when ponce cases were dealt with as follow: A youth of 16 named Owen Charles George Thomas James King was charged with breaking and entering the’ dwelling of one Abraham Barsht and steading household articles to the total value of 15s. Sub-Inspector Cummings said that the accused had been an inmate of the Weraroa Industrial School, and asked that he be returned there. His Worship consented to that course being taken. THEFT OF MONEY. Sobbing violently, a good looking girl named Elsie May Cooper, 24 years of age, stood in the dock, charged with the theft of £3 10b in money, the property of Richard James Frivett. In the course of the prosecution it was stated that the accused was a waitress employed at a boardinghouse where the complainant lived. The money was in a wallet, and the accused had gone to the compainant’s room and taken the money out of the wallet. , She had given over £1 to a dressmaker, and then spent 7s 6d in amusement. The rest of the money had been recovered. His Worship convicted the accused, and ordered her to come up for sentence when called upon.
