PEOPLE’S DAY,AT NELSON,

Per Press Association. RIOHMQND, November 21. To-day is, people’s, day at. the agricultural show. The weather is gloriously fine, .and there fit every indication of a record attendance. In the cattle classes, Jerseys, are of much higher quality than at previous shows. There is more competition in the hack classes and driving competitions. AH business stands are well equipped, and more numerous than usual. There is an extraordinary number of motor-car exhibits, and ride-shows are numerous. Ah outstanding feature was the Jersey cattle and fat sheep exhibits, which the judges classed as equal to anything shown at the metropolitan shows. Mr McLennan, the Jersey judge, ex-president of the New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Club, said he was agreeably surprised at the excellence of the stock. Nelson, he 6aid, seemed to particularly suit the Jersey breed. ’ CROWDS AT HAMILTON r LADY RIDER INJURED. HAMILTON, November 21. , People’s. STRATFORD?S- RECORD FINE DAIRY CATTLE DISPLAY. -STRATFORD, November 21. . There is splendid Weather for the opening day of the Stratford Show, for’ which there are record entries. There Is also an exceedingly fine display of dairy cattle. Judging so far has awarded the championship for pedigree milking Shorthorns, ■■ cow and hull, to Mr J. C. Wright (Matapu), and for Ayrshire cow to Mr X. H. Oolpman (Ohau). UNEQUALLED FRIESIANS. H. Stonex (Bell Block) was awarded the championship for Jersey cow) and A. Uhlenberg (Midhirst) for hull. The Friesian championships' were not available. The judge) Mr 0. E; Robertson* Baid the Friesian section, oh' the whole, was absolutely the beet ever exhibited in Australasia. The class for cows in milk and the pair of females had never been equalled in his opinion. SOUTHLAND CIRCUIT WALLACE CHAMPIONSHIPS. Per Pres* Association. INVERCARGILL, November 21. The Southland show circuit opened to-day at Otautau, when Wallace held its annual show. There was good competition in all classes. The championship awards were:— Milking Shorthorn bull, J. Bateman; cow, A. Anderson. Ayrshire bull, J. (Houston; cow, A. E Cooker. Friesian bull, H. Stew-art; cow, J. G. Leitch. Jersey bull, T. Norman; cow, T. Norman. Border Leicester ram and ewe, W. Kennedy. Romney marsh ram and ewe, W. Kennedy. Shropshire ram, W. Kennedy; ewe, A. T.’ Norman. Draught stallion, R. Kennedy; mares, R- Kennedy. Thoroughbred stallion, A. Chisholm; mare, A. Chisholm.
