Ernest Leighton reports 'that at Hie sale held in the Chamber of Commerce yesterday thpre was a good attendance, and a keen inquiry for the properties offered on behalf of the Lower (Hutt Borough Council. Lot 5, occupied by Meyrick’s bakers shop, was sold under*the hammer for £1750. Lot 1, being the vacant section adjoining Hannan’s boot shop, was sold for £7OO. The Arcade Buildings and the vacant section adjoining, not reaching the reserve, were passed in. The bid ding for the Moxham avenue property, which started at £1250, not reaching the reserve, was also passed in. These properties are not in the auctioneer’s hands solely for private sale.
