COLONIAL SUGAR GO.
HALF-YEARLY MEETING,
By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright
(Received November 1, 1.25 a.m.) SYDNEY, October 31. At the half-yearly meeting of the Colonial Sugar Refining Company the usual statements of accounts were not submitted. The omission is attributed to the withdrawal of the control of sugar by the Commonwealth and Now Zealand Governments, and the acceptance by Queensland of the position held by the Federal authorities, which made it impossible to close tho books on September 30th. In addition, the winding-up of the Fiji company has not yet been settled. The board, nevertheless, has decided to make payable forthwith an interim dividend of 2os per share-. Tho report stated that despite dry weather the Australian production of sugar at the mills and in Fiji will lie near the estimate of May last, and tho crops of 1924 will be larger if tho weather is favourable. Tho chairman, Mr Knox, stated that the interim dividend was at the same rate as the last half-year, but as tho capital had since increased the payment would bo 25a, as against 20s in -May last. The amount divisible would thus again he the same as paid in 1914, before the separation of the companies.
