TROTTING
In view of coming trotting events Tuesday’s trotting work at Addington, as published in the “Sun,” is of considerable interest:-.
J. Mosservey was a visitor from Now Brighton with Onyx and The Rook. Jumping off at the two mile peg, the Cup mare was not hurried over the first half of the journey, which oocupied 2 min 22 l-ssec. Then the speed was clapped on to some purpose, and she oovered the second mile in 2min lOsec, the full journey taking 4min 32 I-sscc. She was to have been picked up by a galloper over the final two furlonge, but no failed to connect. Onyx has never looked in such fine order. Trix Pointer (F. Holmes), Lady Joan (F. Holmeo, junr.), and Countryman (W. Horland) broke away from the mile and a quarter post, "but the last-named would do nothing right at any stage of the journey. Trix Pointer and Lady Joan wound up their task on terms in 2min 48 2-ssec. The Cup candidate did not appear to put much dash into her finishing effort- Countryman, though looking well, is working very badly. When Aoron was brought to the track for a warming-up task, he gave a lot of trouble and had to be straightened up before he would face his task. Subsequently he and Linooln Huon got away from the two mile post, the latter getting a break of three lengths. Three furlongs from home, Lincoln Huon faded out, and Pete Peter, joining the Cup horse, led him home in. 4min 38see. Acron has never looked so well as at present, and did just what was required of him in nice 6tyle.
Grand Denver (Hendricksen) and Star Queen (Withers) got three lengths’ advantage of Whispering Willie (Mills) as they set out on a two mile journey. The first-named pair kept together till within three furlongs of home, where Star Queen dropped out Grand Denver reach'd the winning post just in front of the Oup horse in tan 37sec, neither being driven ont. Sir Wildmoor and Prince Burlington assisted in the workout for about three parts of the journey I’evi.ro Pronto, on the inside, and Logan Chief were associated over a brilliant mile, run in 2min 9seo. They finished on terms, and both are particularly well.
Snowshoe. who was again bandaged, went with his usual scratchy action in his warming-np task. Subsequently, he brote away from the two-mile peg. hut was under a bio- hold over the first four furlongs. From thero he paced in brii-
hant style, leaching home in about 4min 37sec. but few watches got the" full journey. as it did not look as if he was going two miles. He covered the last mile and a half in 3min 20sec, finishing full of running. It was a brilliant piece cf work, and made ihe Cup horse many friends. He pulled up well and Bound.
Johnny Bells (in saddle) was given a useful work-out over two mile*, which he left behind nicely, without being Hurried. in smin.
Great Bingen, who is looking all the belter for his trip to Auckland, waa only jogged without the straits. Vera Logan showed plenty of dash in getting over a mile and. & half, and Peter Swift trotted pleasinglv over a similar journey. Laurier showed plenty of speed In his task over two miles, but was inclined by leave his feet.
Gay Wilkes and Walter Logan trarg associated over two miles, the former going more steadily than nsuaL Coil went, eypnly all through In oast* ing a mile and a half behind in 3roin 33seo.
Lightnin’ showed a fine turn of spaed in setting over a mile and a half, the last 10 furlongs taking 2min SOsec.
Lee Norris was not on a time-making mission in his task over a mile ana a half, but gave a pleasing display. Marietta and Delta were associated over two circuits at a solid pace, the former’s display being a creditable one. Delta went on for an extra half mile. Marvin Jun. went jmsteadily over two miles, and Sir Henry covered two da cuits in the saddle at a useful pace. St Anthony went evenly over a and a half, and The Rook was given, g similar task.
Pete Peter gave a finished display of trotting in getting over two miles in 4.33 He is very well at present, and on being joined by Acron over the last two fnrlopgß kept with the latter, who was under a good hold. Royal Oak and Emperor finished on terms at the end of a solidly-run mile and a quarter.
Among otherq to get through easy tasks were:—Carblnea t Glen Maris, Tobermory, Okuiti, Elite, Solace, Earl Derby, Biemurate. Mat Patch, and Nelson Mac.
