FRAGILE PACKAGES

SERIOUS LOSS TO HAT TRADE. ABOLITION OF FACILITIES. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. (Received October 12, 7.35 p.m.) SYDNEY, October 12. A deputation of business men asked Mr W. G. Gibson, the PostmasterGeneral, that the “fragile” post system be restored. They stated that as the result of the elimination, the Australian hat-makers were unable to send hats to New Zealand, because they got crushed, and trade amounting to £50,000 annually in the export of hats to New Zealand had been lost. The exporters were willing to pay any reasonable amount for the restoration of the former facilities. Mr Gibson promised to give consideration to the request.
