THE WILL AND THE WAY. No. 18. —People’s Confidence in Public Trustee. Sir Julius Vogel, founder of tlio public Trust Office, said in the House ot Representatives fifty years ago : “Honourable Members must bo aware that it is very clifficuit to obtain Trustees 'icr wive-a and children, or executors under wills with sufficient time at tlicir disposal to do justice to the tusk; and even when utter some difficulty and a great sacrifice to friendship such trustees are obtained, no one can be suro that in the case of death or removal their place will be well supplied.*’ To moot a vital need of the people Sir Julius Vogel secured the establishment of the Public Trust Office. The remarkable expansion of the business in five decades is a great monument to a far seeing statesman. On March. Slst, . 1928, the j.iunbor of wills safely deposited with the Public Trustee approximated 85,500, and this total is in* creasing at tho rate of over 40J a month. These figures in a country of 1,250,000 population, afford very emphatic evidence of the people’s confidence in their own State-guar-anteed Office. For full information apply to THE PUBLIC TRUSTEE.
