RAILWAY CONGESTION
POSITION AT WELLINGTON. The Hon. J. G. Coates, Minister for Railways, replying to a New Plymouth deputation, said the department knew wfcnt Taranaki wanted. In reference to the request that the mail train should arrive in Wellington earlier, however, Mr Coates pointed out that there were certain hours in Wellington when it was impossible to push in another train. Before the war and during a part of the war period, a certain amount of work had been done at Wellington to improve this condition, but the war. followed by the slump, had caused the work to cease. The position had arrived when the Government had to do something, and, with that in mind, a comprehensive scheme was being drawn up.
