CHOIR CONTEST
Y.W.C.A. VENTURE. In connection •with the Y.W.O.A. Club’s Choir contest, which is to take SI ace .in the Town Hall next Saturay, Mi&s Dunlop, Secretary of the association stated’ yesterday that this will be the first time anything of the sort hid been attempted by the Wellington centre, but they hoped that it would grow into a big thing. . In teome- cities in other countries it if# a general, thing, for not only institutions such as the Y.W.C.A., but also industrial concerns, to have their choirs, and "enter into competition amongst themselves. ‘ ‘The whole idea id to cultivate the love of music amongst the girls,” said Miss Dunlop. “As the ventune grows, we. will he able to branch out and mix with other choirs.”
The following is a list of conductors and contesting choirs: Miss Henderson, Newton; Miss Wyatt, Miramar: Mr O. liowe, Woheto, Mr W. E. Howe, Raumahora.; Mr F. G. Pope, Haeiremai and Kiwi; Mr J. Coulter, Dakomai; Mr Dankshear, Huiaj Mr Vine, Okarea; Mr J. Stainton, JPollyanna; Mr Acknoya, Waimarie. There should be keen competition between father and son in the third and fourth mentioned choirs.
