MEETING OF CHAMPIONS
W.RJ3STLING AND* TUG-OF-WAR. At the Palace Theatre, Petone, on Monday evening next a unique entertainment in the history of the Hutt Valley will take place Theo. G adding* of Auckland, will essay to wrest the heavyweight Australasian wrestling championship from Jack Leavers, of Petone. The Aucklander has emerged from a sound preparation and is determined to give a good exhibition. Petone's "hope" is looked upon os a wrestler with a tower of strength, wlhich he intends utilising to the bitter end. Ho has been training assiduously for the past three weeks and when seen yesterday looked as fit as the proverbial thoroughbred; Great interest is being evinced in the event, and the contestants should be rewarded with a bumper house. The tug-of-war contest between Taranaki and Petone is creating a good deal of interest, and there are many of the opinion that the visiting team will prove very difficult to conquer. In connection with, the wrestling championship the contestants have agreed to ten rounds of five minutes duration, with an interval of two minutes between each. The strangle hold, hammer-lock, full Nelson, and toe-hold are barred. The weights of the men are:—Gadding, 12.8; Leevere, 13.4. Mr Len Price, of Petone, has been appointed) referee.
