PROGRESS ASSOCIATION. PROPOSED DISTRICT PATHS. A (public meeting called by the above association was held in. the Anglican I Parish Hall to discuss the question c-j a site for a proposed bath'm the district. Mr j. H. 'Wallace, president, occupied the chair. He briefly outlined the ■ work ho far dona by. the executive, and put the matter Of the location of the bath before the crowded audience, sc that everyone should know the present position of the question. Mr J. M. Morice, drainage engineer, attended the meeting by request, and explained important pointain connection with the proposed scheme, and was heartily thanked for his attendance. | An open discussion followed, in which various aspects of the proposed site in j the reserve and of one in a more central position, were fully gone into After careful deliberation it was considered the reserve site whs the onlj feasible one to be entertained. The points discussed in its favour were—the tite is provided, Constant supply ol ffesh water, beautiful aspect, nearness to the school, aUd sunhy position. II eras stated that it was a hath belonging to the Wellington oilmens and not simply for Khandallah. After* Fall consideration of the matter, Captain M. E. Galloway proposed, and Mr J. 6. Smith seconded, the folI lowing resolution, which Was carried I unanimously: “This representative ! gathering of the residents of Rhandallah, having had the facte in relation to the bath site placed before it, appreciates that if facilities for swimming in tEe district are to be realised within a reasonable time, the generons offer of the City Council to establish a swimming bath in the catfchmeht area situated in the Khandallah domain, should be accepted forthwith. It, therefore, resolves to support the executive of the local Progressive Association in its effort to raise the sum of £3OO, the amount which the council SSke should be forthcoming from the residents to bring the catchment area scheme To fruition; provided the bath he placed in a position to get the maximum of sunshine.*’ The matter oT collecting the money was left in the hands of an energetio committee of ladies, with Mi* T. B. Strong as president.
