WILL AUSTRALIA ACCEPT? CANADA WAITING. Australian and N.Z. CaWe Association. OTTAWA, May 16. The Alinister for Commerce, Air J. A. Robb, is anxiously awaiting the. impression produced in Australia by the Budget offer of preference. Concerning the piroposed 3 cents a pound duty on raisins and dried currants, whioh would be exempt under British preference, it is pointed out that under the present Canadian duty of two-thirds of a cent Canada’s importations last year were 32,000,000 pounds of raisins, of which 30,000,000 pounds was from the United States, and 5,000,000 pounds of currants, of which Greece supplied 3,750,000 pounds and the United States 1,000,000 pounds.
