CLAIAI FOR DAMAGES. PLAINTIFF AWARDED £3OO. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, May 17. An affray at the Grosvenor Hotel on March 3rd last was revived in the Supremo Court to-dav. Last week John Stack, barman at tho hotel, was fined £lO for assaulting Thomas Reynolds, gas expert, by strik ing him in the eye. Tlie eye was severe ly injured, and had to be removed. Reynolds has now brought a civil action against Stack claiming £IOOO damages. Mr Justice Adams said Stack admitted tlie blow waa struck in anger, and thero could be no defence to the general notion. The jury gave a verdict for plaintiff for £3OO as damages.
