FAREWELL LUNCHEON

TO MR W. W. BRUCE. A farewell luncheon was tendered yesterday at Dustin’s, to Mr W. W. Bruce, who for many years past has represented the well-known paper makers of Great Britain, Messrs James Spicer and Sons. Mr Bruce ie leaving New Zealand to take up his residence in his homeland, Scotland. The luncheon was attended by the principals and representatives of the local paper merchants, Mr W. L. Meek being in the chair. In proposing the health of the guest, the chairman spoke in eulogistic terms of his many good qualities, and of the help and assistance he had rendered to the trade, and the high esteem id which he was held by all with whom he came in contact. In the of the luncheon the chairman,'" on behalf of the paper merchants, presented Mr Bruce with a greenstone inkstand, suitably inscribed and encased in a casket made of New Zealand woods. In ’returning thanks, Mr Bruce referred feelingly to his departure from New Zealand, where during the last thirty odd years he had made so many friends, especially in the paper and printing trades, and thanked those .present on behalf of Mrs Bruce and hunself for the hearty expressions of goodwill tendered to them on leaving the Dominion. Mr and Mrs Bruce sail for Scotland by the Port, Melbourne shortly.
