SOME MAGAZINES

From Messrs Gordon and Gotch come a number of magazines. Special features of the April issue of the “Sovereign Magazine” is a thrilling mystery novel by Eden Phillpotts, “The Red Redmaynee,” and “Unless Experience be a Jewel,” by Elizabeth Holding, a story in which it is proved that things are not always "what they seem. Other stories are attractively written by Alice Perrin, Benjamin Vaughan, Eleanor Nepean, James Oabelle, Ronald. M« Newman and other popular authors. The second instalment of Cosmo Hamilpowerful now serial, "Another Scandal," appeals in the April issue of "Hutchinson's Magazine," also "Inscrutable Decrees," hy E. P. Benson; the story of a beautiful woman from whom an uncanny evil semed to emerge. Other stories in lighter vein, by Edmund Snell, Lady Dorothy Mills, Edith B. Delano, Henry Williamson, etc., display their talents. A special feature of this number is a photograph supplement, "The Rival Beauties." This is a charming selection, and represents beauty on the stage. The April issue of "The Detective Magazine" i 3 an excellent one, which is certain to meet with great favour from its many readers. In "The Final Witness," by Stuart Martin, a great Cuban hound bays eerily as his black shape Hits in and out of this mysterious tale. "The Medium's Miniature," by Mrs Wilson Woodrow, is a most thrilling and interesting story. Mr C. B. Wardle (late superintendent Bengal police) writes an article on the work, of the Indian police, and there are many other interesting articles. One of the most popular magazines today is the "My Magazine." With the April number is a special article, "Who First Thought of God?" "Dramatic Change of Nations." This article shows how the biggest nation in Europe has lost its place. Civilisation going north changes in the great white world. All the other articles nre well up to the high reputation gained by "My M.nguzinii"
