RUGBY UNIONS MEET
ATTEMPT TO AFFILIATE FAILS. Per Press Association. THAMES, May 17. Delegatee from the Thames Valley Rugby Union met the Thames Union in an endeavour to affiliate the Thames with tho Valley. Thames at present is affiliated to Auckland. Mr Silooek (president) stated that vhe Now Zealand union desired that the position be considered in the interests of better football and big fixtures. The proposal was not well received. Finally it wae resolved: "That having heard the delegation the Thames Union cannot see its/wav clear to affiliate with the Thames galley Union.” It was pointed out that the Auckland matches were the foundation of Thames finance, and travelling expenses would be much heavier in sending teams up the valley.
