The 'Union Steamship Company advises that the trans-Pacifio steamer Waiotapu, from Pacific Coast ports, via New Zealand ports, Adelaide, and Melbourne, arrived at Sydney early yesterday morning, MAHIA FOR TIMARU. The Shaw. Savill and Albion steamer Mahia leaves Dunedin on Tuesday next for loading at Timaru' and Wellington, She is due here on May 6t)h, and sails again on May 14th for London, via Monte Video and Teneriffe. /" WAIMANA FOR RUSSELL. The Shaw, Savill and-Albion steamer Waimana leaves Auckland on Thursday next fob loading at Russell, Whakatane, Gisborne, and Napier. She then comes on to Wellington, being, due here about May 13th, and sails again on May 18th for London, via New York and Boston. TAINUI’S MOVEMENTS. The steamer Tainni is at present discharging at Lyttelton, and proceeds to Dunedin and .Wellington for loading. She is due here about May 10th. She is now scheduled to sail from here -.about May 15th for Southampton and London, via Panama Canal, taking passengers to England. THE PORT MELBOURNE. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line ''advise that the steamer Port Melbourne, from Auckland, is due here tomorrow. From this port she proceeds to Lyttelton and Dunedin for discharge, and later loads on the coast. She sails finally from this port about the end of May. RARANGA AT LYTTELTON. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s steamer Raranga has left Port Chalmers for Lyttelton. She then proceeds to Bluff, and then cornea on to Wellington, where she is due about Wednesday next. ’She is scheduled to sail finally from here on May Bth for London, via Monte Video and Teneriffe. * TUG ONTARIO FOR AUCKLAND. The tug Ontario, 1120 tons, which has been stationed for some time at Pago Pago, Samoa, arrives at Auckland tomorrow to undergo overhaul, and will be docked there for about five days. CANTERBURY STEAMERS. The Canterbury Steamship; Company advise that the Gale is due on. Wednesday from Dunedin, Oamaru, Timaru, and Lyttelton, and sails again the same day for Wanganui. The Calm is due here on Friday from Bluff. Dunedin, Oamaru, Timaru,, and Lyttelton, and sails again the same day for Wanganui. CONSTRUCTOR DUE TO-DAY. The steamer Canadian Construptor is due here to-day from Lyttelton to discharge and 'load for New York, Boston, and Montreal. She clears here for Napier and Auckland, and is timed to sail finally from the latter port about May sth. PORT NICHOIEON AT NAPIER. The C. and D. Line steamer Port' Nicholson, from Tokomaru Bay, arrived at Napier yesterday. She comes on to Wellington, where she is-due on Wednesday, and sails again on May 4th for London, via Monte Video. RUAHINB SAILS. Carrying a full list of passengers, the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Rua'hine cleared port shortly after midday yesterday for London, .via the Panama Canal. Maunganui arrived at Papeete at 6 &.m! on Tuesday from Ban Francisco, and: left again at 5.3!) a.m. on Wednesday for. Rarotonga, where she was due yesterday morning. . She is expected to reach Wellingtoa on Friday, May 4th. A NEW MOTOR SHIP. The Oldenwald, which iS'Tbe fifth motor ship to be constructed since the war for the Hamburg-Amerika Line, has now been launched, and will -shortly be completed. She is 400 teet long, with a beam of 54 feet and a depth of 38 feet, and will carry about 8000 tons. The Oldenwald has been built by the, Deutsche Werft, Hamburg, and is to be j equipped with two 1550 i.’h.p. Burmeister and Wain type Diesel engines, manufactured under license at the A.E.G. works in Berlin. A speed of 11 knots is anticipated. The other food ships owned by the Hamburg-Amerika Line are 11,-000-ton 12-knot vessels. The Oldenwald will be fitted with a new type of Fletner rudder, which, it is claimed, can be operated satisfactorily iby hand-power, fihe. is the first large vessel to be so equipped. • »!. V)
