ARCHDEACON WAKEFORD’S CASE. MISSING GIRL FOUND. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, February The Central News Agency is officially informed that the committee ol clergy assisting in the defence of Archdeacon Wakefield has been rccon stituted and enlarged. The committee has announced that the girl Wakeford met in Peterborough Cathedral has been found, and offers to give evidence. The Ven. John "Wakeford, Archdeacon of Stow, was charged before an Episcopal Court in February , likM. with adultery at Peterborough. Evidence of an hotelkeeper was produced to the effect that Wakeford stayed under- an assumed name with a wo man at this hotel, signing the register as man and wife. The archdeacon’s appeal agpj'nst his conviction was heard later and dismissed, but his case has been kept alive b- enthusiasts supporters. According to the Archdea'-on. he showed a girl over the cathedral on one of the days when, according to the evidence, he was staying at the hotel.
