VIGOROUS BATTING SUBURBAN TEAM’S FINE SCORE. In the Petone v. Old Boys match at Petone, the latter won the toss, but sent Petone in to bat, despite the fact that the wicket favoured the batsmen. Petone were at the wickets most of the afternoon, and compiled the formidable total of 344. Comer 103, and Gedye 103 were the outstanding batsmen, botli being very aggressive, especially the" latter, who hit 6 sixes. The first widket fell for 15, and then Corner and Gedye became associated in a parnership which realised 153 runs. Corner played a fine innings, but had a “life” of 71, McColl failing to stump him when the batsman was a good yard out of his crease.
