FOXTON RAILWAY WHARF
ROAD ACCESS DESIRED. CONFERENCE WITH GENERAL MANAGER. Per Press Association. FOXTON, February 6. Mr R. W. MeVilly, General Manager for Railways, accompanied by Mr McLean, Chief Engineer, Mr Jones, as-sistant-engineer, Mr Young, District Traffic Manager, and Mr Lane, District Engineer, arrived by special train this afternoon, and conferred with the members of the Harbour Board re matters connected with road access to the wharf. An inspection of the wharf was made, and Mr J. Linklater M.P., chairman of the board, said the board desired the right of access to secure the necessary privilege to firms who desired to build on the waterfront on the hoard’s endowment. Mr MeVilly said he could not grant a permanent right, but for a definite period, but the matter would receive favourable consideration. 1 The question of sorting charges was held over.
