THE STOCK EXCHANGE TWO SALES REPORTED A QUIET AND FIRM MARKET. Two sales* were reported on the Stock Exchange yesterday, when two lots of New Zealand Refrigerating shares changed hands at Xt 7s t>d. No mining quotation appeared on the list, but guteilged securities are again in excellent ilemand. Ail quotations of this class ure firm, and out of eight lots only two sellers have come forward. There were four bank* receiving: attention yesterday, and tlie buyers wunting Australasians at £l3 .is are -s 6d below the last quotation on January 3lst. Interest in financial companies has waned a little during the last few days, and yesterday only three lots were quoted. Ooldsbrough Mortgages have dropped 3c! with buyers and 9d with sellers, while other quotations are firm. Gas shares are unchanged, and insurances are receiving little attention. Meat shares are a centre of attraction at preKent, and Gears are quoted at the excellent price of £1 18s 6d. Transport® are a little easier all round, while no quotations appear on the market. There is a fair demand for both coal and timber shares, which are still at good prices, and miscellaneous companies are still receiving good attention at firm prices. Altogether the market 6howe very nttlo change, and prices all round are firm, although yesterday was a quiet day.
