ISOLATED AT LAST
GERM OF INFLUENZA SCOURGE. EFFORTS TO FIND ANTIDOTE. Australian and N.Z.- Cable Association. (Received February 4, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, February 3. The Rochefeller Institute has announced that two of its doctors, Frederick Oates and Peter Olitzky, have succeeded in isolating the influenza germ. Experiments in antidotes and antitoxins are now progressing. _ The germ is called Bacterium Fneumonsintes, because it weakens the lung tissues. It is so small that it requires to he magnified 1000 times before it is visible.
