SITTING POLICE PROSECUTIONS. Mr E. Page, S.M., presided over yesterday’s Bitting of the Magistrate’s Court. Frank . James Holmes was charged with stealing £3B, the property of the Salvation Army. . ... The accused elected to be tried by jury. “In that case I will ask for a remand for -one week,” said Senior-De-tective Lewis. The magistrate granted the remand asked for. ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES. Frank Burney appeared on a charge of obtaining by false pretences the sum of £6 From Charles Lay. He was further charged with obtaining from a Mr Bush a Ford car by falsely representing that he was a farmer, and racehorse owner. Mr A. B. Seivwright, appearing for the accused, said that the man’s former employer would be in Wellington on Saturday. It was stated that the employer was prepared to take the man hack on his station. An adjournment until Saturday waa asked for. The magistrate granted the adjournment as asked for.
