GATHERING OF LIBERALS

PRESENTATION TO MR MASTERS. OPPOSITION LEADER ON REFORM RESOLUTION, Per Press Association. STRATFORD, January 19. A great gathering in the Town Hall presented Mr R. Masters, M.P., with a purse of sovereigns and Mrs Masters with a valuable necklace. Mr T, M. Wilford, Leader of the Opposition, and Messrs A. H. Atmore, W. A. Veitch, Rlansom, and S. G. Smith were present, and all spoke enthusiastically of the member for Stratford’s work. Mr Wilford, in the course of his speech, referred to the resolution passed by the Reform Caucus “welcoming any equitable arrangement,” and went on to say. “I would like to know the meaning of the resolution. I ask Reform: ‘ls that an invitation for the menajeifc of the Liberal-Labour Party to join the Reform Party and make one party, and place Mr Holland in my position as Leader of the Opposition, and thus make Mr Holland’s party the alternative Government in this country?’ ” He hoped he had put the question plainly and would make no comment. When the Reform Party’s answer to that question was submitted to members of the LiberalLabour Party he could make a statement as to his party’s intentions when Parliament opened.”
