M.C.C. V. NATAL

HOME TEAM’S POOR SHOWING. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received January 14. 5.5 p.m.) CAPETOWN, January 13. Natal in the first innings made 124 (Taylor 41, Carter 14). Woolley took five wickets for 24, Jupp two for 21; Fender two for 39, ana Stevens one for 15. .Marylebone in the second innings lost two wickets for 176 (Russell '6 not out, Sandham 76, Woolley 12, Carr 10 not out). * The weather was sunny and hot, the wicket dead. The Natalians made a poor showing against well-used iwwling. Woolley was in particularly fine form with the ban. The Englishmen were out for scoring, and took chances. Sandhman was lucky, being twice missed. There has been unfavourable comment on Taylor’s introducing the leg theory on the previous day, prolonging the life oi the last wicket in order to savo his own side batting. The light late in the afternoon was poor.
