BOARD OF AGRICULTURE

NOMINATION’ OF MEMBERS. AMENDED REGULATIONS. Amended regulations under the Board of Agriculture Act, 1913, have been gazetted. The new regulations, which roplace those previously in force, refer mainly to the method of nomination of members of the board, for appointment by His Excellency the Governor-General. The Dominion for the purposes of the Act, is divided into eight districts—four in tho North Island and four in the: South; and a member of "the board may be appointed on the recommendation of such of the Agricultural and Pastoral Societies as have their headquarters in each of the said districts. The nominations are to be called for this year, and every third year thereafter by the metropolitan presidents of each of the districts —that is to say, by the pres! dents respectively of the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association, the Hawke’s Bay A. and P. Society, the Taranaki Metropolitan Agricultural 'Society, the Manawatu and Weßt 'Coast A. and P. Association, the Nelson A. and P. Association, the Canterbury A. and P. Association, the Otago A. and P. Society, and the Southland A. and P. Association. ' The regulations also provide that: (11 Each member of the board shah when absent from home on the business of the board be entitled to a refund of his expenses of locomotion, and to a travelling allowance of thirty shillings for caCn day or part of a. day during which he is so absent; (2) the board may, subject to the written concurrence of the Minister for Agriculture, set up one or more temporary special committees, consisting wholly or partly of persons not members of the board, to inquire into and report to the board upon any specified matter; and (3) excepting in the case of his locomotion expenses and travelling allowances in connection with attendance at meetings of tho board, no member of the hoard shall incur any charge against the uublic funds without first obtaining the written authority of the Minister for Agriculture.
