DISHONEST EMPLOYEE. THREE YEARS PROBATION. Henry Francis Samera, 29 years of age, and a salesman by way of occupation. who had been remanded on three previous occasions on charges -of theft from his employer, was again before the Magistrate, Mr P. K. Hunt, SM., at .Saturday’s sitting of the Magistrate’s Court. He .was charged, .with the theft of goods valued at J 217 4s 7d, the pw pertv of James Smith. Ltd. Senior Detective Lewis said the accused man was employed at James Smith, Ltd., as a salesman. He stole a quantity of goods and disposed of them to a person outside the firm. A charge of receivin'? would bo preferred against this person. "When accosted." said the Senior Detective. “the accused gave every assistano to the -police." “That may be so," said Mr F. K. Hunt: “but this man is keeping an honest man out of a job." Mr Mills asked that tbe accused man be placed on three years probation. The Magistrate to (Hr Mills)-. This is a single roan with a good wage; do you think he will make good? \ “Give me a chanee and T will take advantage of it," pleaded the accused. "Very well,” said tho Magistrate. "I will place you on three years probation. Restitution of the stolen Roods to be made in such a manner as the probation officer may think fit."
