CHECKING CRIME

INTERCHANGE OF DETECTIVES. ADVOCATED BY SYDNEY PAPER. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. SYDNEY, January 5. The ‘‘Daily Telegraph,” dealing with the influx of criminals and the need for an exchange of detectives, says attempts to establisH a scheme for the interchange of detectives between New South Wales and New Zealand have failed owing to the lack of imerest displayed by the Dominion authorities. Arguing the value of such an exchange, |he paper states that New South Wales Heently suffered from an epidemic of the blowing-up of safes, fifteen issos, occurring in a few months. When the’ offendem were caught they proved to be New Zealand criminals. Had New Zealand had detectives serving h~ro, as I havo other States, the epidemic might have been handled effectively.
