BOYS’ ESCAPADE
WHAT THEY DID WITH £6OO CHEQUE. The escapade of four London boys was related to the Penrith (Cumberland) magistrates. It was stated that the ’ boys obtained a cheque-book and went by train to Leeds, where they cashed a cheque for £6OO. They then -bought four motor-bicycles and outfits, and set out to tour the country. One hoy was arrested at Carlisle, another gave himself up to the police at Appleby, and the other two were discovered at a country inn near Penrith. The lads were lemanded for a police escort.
