MERCANTILE FAILURES IN U.S.A. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received January 3, 9.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, January 2. Twenty-two thousand four hundred mercantile firms in the United States failed during 1922, the largest in any year of the country’s history. The liabilities amounted to 646.965,000 dollars, and the assets were slightly more than 56 per cent.
