At Marion, on the resumption of the hearing of the caste for the defence in the Herrin massacre trial, witnesses testified that the mine guards had often interfered with the yillagers and miners’ -peaceful tasks, menacing them with a display of arms, and during the day of the fight they saw the guards fire and kill miners without provocation. i
