Tapley, of Dunedin, will probably be a candidate for the Mayoralty in April next. Mr F. C. Renyard, Director of the Masterton (Technical School, /is on a visit to Mount Cook. Mr. A. J. Fairmaid, A.M.1.C.8., of the Public Works Department, Nelson, is in Wellington. Dr T. Harvey-Johnsop was a passenger by the mail boat from Sydney to Auckland. Her .Grace, the Duchess of Hamilton, is a through passenger to Vancouver by the Niagara. Messrs G. Nicholls, H. G. Taubman. and J. Morton, of Sydney, are visiting New Zealand. Sir Godfrey Fell, for many year* in the India Civil Service, is on a tour of the Dominion, and is at present -visiting Auckland. Colonel Slater, the direct representative of the Canadian Pacific Railway in Australasia, was a passenger by the Niagara. Mr G. E. Ironsides, assistant stock fit* specter in Pahiatua for the prut two and a half years, has received notice of transfer to Wanganui. . * - a*** - Mr Arthur Howe, of Kilbircne, return, ed to Wellington yesterday after a holiday tour of the Nelson district, where he was the guest of the Messrs Gableson and Mrs GaUeson, of Port Nebco. Mr R. H. Thompson. M-A.. a member of the staff of the Christchurch Boys* High School, has been appointed assistant master at the Wairarapa High School. The death is reported of Mr F. Storey, for many years past a member of the Christchurch Drainage- Board. He was also greatly interested in motoring, and owned Storey’s Garage, in Hereford street. Mr T. M. McDonald, 8.A., eon of Mr D. M. McDonald, Mataura, has received an appointment as resident toaster on the staff of the New Plymouth Boys* High School. Mr Geo rye Lawn, assistant master at WoodvQle District High School for several years, has obtained a more important appointment at Christchurch. He was farewelled by theWoodville citizens, from whom he received tangible tokens of esteem. Thq "Times" Masterton correspondent , writes:—Hr L. C. Travers, who for some font years haa been manager of the Masterton branch of the Scoullar Company, has accepted an appointment as staff and sales manager of the Tanenra Qarlick Company. Auckland, and will leave Masterton in a fortnight's time.'* Mr Mahrico Morgan, -who was fatally injured in a motor accident near Tathapfe’on Christmas Day. was a well-known Dunedin resident. * He waa for many years in Hie office of Messrs Mondy and Stephens, and left that city to taka up a position in Napier, where he. had since resided. Mr Morgan played fooiball for the Dunedin Club, and cricket for Sra ' edin, and afterwards for Mornington. Mr C. E. Canon Bickersteeth is making a tour of the world in order to study the work of the Anglican Church in the various. overseas Dominions, end has recently spent some time in Anetralia.
