The United Mine Workers of America have: requested the United States Coal Commission to consider the nationalisation of the coal industry. The mine workers are endeavouring to secure the support of tho progressive members of Congress and of the railways unions. There is a plan under which the Government will purchase all tho coal mines at an approximate cost of 4000 million dollars, and place the control under a Notional Mining Council, similar to that in Britain.
