ITALY’S FISCAL SYSTEM

IMPORTANT CHANGES PENDING. Australian and N.Z. Cable. Association MILAN, January 1. Signor Arnaldo Mussolini, brother of the Premier and director of “II Popolo D’ltalia,” the chief Fascist! journal, announces that the Italian Government will shortly sweep away the import duties, and give Italy a fiscal system, practically corresponding to English freetrade. The Government -believes that Customs barriers are doing Italy incalculable harm, and that the time is opportune for a change, as a wave of self-reliance and courage is sweeping over the oomitry, and many realise that the hastily drafted tariff Aw of July, 1921, toad a bad effect. The fall of the tariff walls will offer great opportunities* to Britito traders. Already Britain is -recovering the coal trade.
