CATHOLIC BAZAAR
SEASON EXTENDED. ‘ On Saturday night the large Catholic Hall, Hill street, was crowded to the doors. The various attractions, particularly the grand tug-of-war final, drew crowds of enthusiastic patrons. The hall weis artistically deoorated, and the spirit of genial goodwill and hilarity which pervaded the thronged building, showed beyond doubt that the bazaar is a very popular entertainment. Brilliant dances were performed by Mr Knowsley’s pupils, and the grand' spec* taoular display of nations wa® repeated. In the tug-of-war final a most exciting struggle was witnessed between Bray and Pipitea Wharf. Both teams were evenly matched, but Pipitea showed superior skill in the last few seconds, and after a stern contest won by a narrow margin To-night, at 8.30. a challenge contest for a substantial sum will take place between Pipitea Wharf and Petone. Great enthusiasm is being shown in this challenge pull, and a close finish is anticipated. Special dancing items will also be given by Mr Knowsley’s pupils, and the spectacular display of nations will again be repeated. Holders of raffle tickets are requested to bring them to the bazaar, as many of the articles will be raffled to-night. The bazaar closes tomorrow night, when all remaining articles will be raffled or sold.
